6U-9U Boys and Girls
The Futures Academy is an intensive skill development and tactical instruction program for the most advanced, focused, and passionate 6U-9U boys and girls.
The Futures Academy is supplemental to the recreation soccer program and provided at modest cost to participants. The Futures Academy is for players who desire a higher level of coaching and crave a more competitive and challenging training environment than offered in the recreational program. The Futures Academy also serves as a bridge to the more competitive Sterling Soccer travel program beginning at 9U.
Designed to be a fun, nurturing, and challenging training environment, the Academy will place a heavy emphasis on individual foot skills in 1v1 and 2v2 attacking situations. We want players be confident with the ball at their feet and be creative in attacking the goal. Mistakes will be encouraged and creativity rewarded. When developmentally appropriate, players will also be introduced to fundamental passing and receiving methods that are the foundation to a progressive possession-style of play.
The Futures Academy consists of seven weekly 75-minute training sessions throughout the fall and spring seasons and additional training and competition opportunities throughout the winter and summer months. To provide an even greater challenge and more opportunities for players to achieve success, friendly matches and joint training sessions with nearby clubs may also be arranged.
All eligible recreation players will be considered for the Futures Academy. Recreation coaches and the Academy Director will be observing, identifying, and recommending players who exhibit the most energy, enthusiasm, and desire for the beautiful game.
