U12 FREEDOM ADVANCE TO STATE CUP SEMI-FINALS IN VA BEACH
The U12G Freedom advanced to the state semi-finals with a 3-2 victory over the PWSI Courage. The team will head to Virginina Beach next weekend to take on the NVSC Majestics. Good luck Freedom.
NEW TEAM COACHES MEETING POSTPONED UNTIL MAY 19
The originally scheduled travel meeting for new coaching candidates has been postponed until May 19, 2008. The meeting will be held in the Eastern Loudoun Regional Library at 8pm - meeting room C.
VA STATE CUP UNDERWAY
Update - the U12 Freedom advanced to the round of 16 with a 1-0 victory over the Great Falls Destiny. The U14 Avalanche were eliminated in the 2nd round by the possible finalist BRYC Santos. Good Luck Freedom in the next leg.
SYSA has entered three teams to represent the club in the Virginia State Cup Championships - U14G Avalanche, U13B FC and U12G Freedom. The Freedom started the competetion off well with a convincing 7-0 victory in the play-in round against the FAS Fury. The Freedom will take the field again April 26th against the Great Falls Destiny in the round of 32. The FC suffered a tough fought loss in the round of 32 against the DC Stoddert Blue Titans. The Avalanche advanced with a solid performance against the Virginia Rush Swoosh. The Avalance will face the #2 seed and highly ranked Braddock Road Santos in the round of 16 on April 26th.
NEW TRAVEL TEAM COACHES MEETING APRIL 22, 2008
The new coaches travel meeting will be held on April 22, 2008 at 7:00pm at the Eastern Loudoun Regional Library. The meeting is a Q&A session for potential new coaches in the U9 age group. Coaches wishing to inquiry about addtional age group teams should also plan to attend. Please contact Dan Christensen, VP of Travel, if you have any questions.
U12 FREEDOM WIN PRESTIGOUS JEFFERSON CUP
The Sterling Freedom captured the 2008 Jefferson Cup with an undefeated 4-0-0 record. Congratulations to all the Freedom players and Coach Newman and Tippett for a job well done.
U9 UNITED WIN 2008 PWSI ICEBREAKER
The Sterling United won the 2008 PWSI Icebreaker with an undefeated 3-0-1 record. Congratulations to all the United boys for their first championship and to Coach Pete, Phil and Dave for a job well done.
CONGRATULATIONS TITANS AND AVALANCHE
U11 Titans and U14 Avalanche Win WAGS Sportsmanship Award
The U11 Titans and the U14 Avalanche have won the WAGS Fall 2007 Sportmanship Award for U11 division A and U14 division 5 respectively. Teams are selected by their peer coaches in their division for positive sportsmanship in all areas on the field during league play. The teams will be honored at a DC United game in 2008.
CONGRATULATIONS U11 BOYS D1 ODSL RAPIDS FOR AN UNDEFEATED SEASON
SYSA congratulates the U11 boys Rapids for their undefeated season. The Rapids finished 8-0-0 in D1 ODSL allowing 2 goals throughout the season. Great jobs boys!!!!!
